Competency-Based Credits
Students in Washington state may be able to earn up to four high school credits by demonstrating their proficiency in a language other than English.

Minimum Requirements for College Admissions
HEC Board's Minimum High School Core Course Requirements: State law requires the Higher Education Coordinating Board to establish minimum requirements for freshman admission to Washington's public four-year universities and college. To be admitted as freshmen, high school students must complete the following minimum core course requirements, adopted by the Board in 1987:
- Four years of English, including three years of literature and composition.
- Three years of mathematics, including algebra, geometry and advanced mathematics.
- Three years of social science.
- Two years of science, including one year of laboratory science (the equivalent of biology, chemistry, physics, or principles of technology) Note: Students applying for college freshman admission, beginning in fall 2010, will need to complete two years of laboratory science, including one year of algebra-based biology, chemistry or physics).
- Two years of the same foreign language, Native American language, or American Sign language.
- One year of fine, visual or performing arts or electives from any of the other required subjects.

The Washington State Board of Education sets the . To graduate, students must complete a total of 24 credits, comprising 17 core credits and 7 flexible credits. This includes four credits of English and three credits of math, along with other subjects.

**Personalized Pathway Requirements are related courses that lead to a specific post-high-school career or educational outcome chosen by the student based on the student’s interests and High School and Beyond Plan, which may include Career and Technical Education, and are intended to provide a focus for the student’s learning.
- College Admission Requirements

Individual colleges make decisions and vary depending on the type of college and other factors. While high school graduation (or the equivalent) is typically required, meeting high school graduation requirements is not the same as meeting college admissions standards. Students are encouraged to contact colleges of interest directly, as admissions processes and requirements vary by institution.
Generally, public colleges and universities in Washington require a minimum of two (2) World Language courses in the same language that meet . Competency-based credits are accepted as CADR courses.
For universities outside Washington, it is advised that you research the college or university’s specific requirements. For a strong foundation in the language, 今日看料 supports three (3) credits in the same language. Out-of-state institutions may not always accept competency-based credits.
