While working in aged care can be incredibly rewarding, due to the nature of the work, students may encounter sensitive and challenging experiences such as supporting individuals with chronic illnesses or age-related conditions, addressing grief and loss, providing palliative care, and coping with the passing of those in their care.

Additionally, both vocational placement and employment in the aged care sector can be physically demanding. Students will need to perform tasks such as manual handling, operating medical and assistive equipment, and lifting or transferring patients.

It is important for prospective students to carefully consider these factors when deciding if this course is right for them.
